NHS MK CCG wants to make it as easy as possible for patients who need to be referred by their GP to see a specialist. As a result, the Referral Management Service (RMS) has been set up to help:
Improve the overall patient experience including patient choice and booking of the first outpatient appointment
Provide a central point for all GP referrals to be screened and processed
Improve the quality of referrals to help ensure patients are seen in the right place first time
When the decision to refer you to a specialist is made, the GP will direct your referral to the RMS where it will be reviewed and a decision made as to where you will need to go to receive the best outcome. Then the RMS will contact you to arrange a convenient appointment date and time with an appropriate service provider (hospital or community clinic).
After the Referral Management Service has spoken to you about your appointment and who you will see they will send you a confirmation letter that will include the appointment date, time, address and phone number of the service you will attend.
If the RMS cannot reach you by phone, they will try to make an appointment for you or ask the specialist service provider to contact you to agree a convenient appointment date and time.
If you need to contact the Referral Management Service for an update or to change or cancel an appointment, please call on 01908 872190
Have your say
The Referral Management Service regularly asks patients for feedback on the service they provide so if you receive a feedback card please complete it and return it to the freepost address. You can also provide feedback online here.
